Steen's Basic Barbecue Sauce

This recipe is just one of many created by the Steen family at their syrup mill in Abbeville. What I like about this particular sauce is its simplicity without sacrificing great and unique flavor.

Makes 4 pints

Ingredients:

1 stick oleo
1 bottle ketchup, small
1 bottle cooking sherry wine, refill ketchup bottle
1 lemon, quartered
hot sauce to taste
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon mustard
1/4 cup Steen's syrup

Preparation:

Melt oleo in saucepan, add other ingredients in order given and heat only until sauce simmers.
