Spring Fling Menu:

Welcome to L’Auberge Chez François
A bit of the Alsatian countryside in Great Falls, Virginia.

Take a scenic drive down a beautiful country road among the lush green hills of Northern Virginia. It is there you will find L’Auberge Chez François, the favorite restaurant of celebrities, foreign dignitaries and power brokers in Washington. Founded by François Haeringer, the original restaurant was only a few blocks from the White House. A native of Alsace, François was a pioneer in bringing French cuisine to post-war America. These days, L’Auberge Chez François is a creative family effort. Son Jacques is the Chef de Cuisine with brothers Paul and Robert managing the restaurant. With François’s guidance, food connoisseurs have been celebrating special occasions at L’Auberge Chez François since 1976.

The restaurant is situated on six scenic acres and features intimate dining rooms and an exquisite outdoor garden. Creating a romantic atmosphere among the towering trees and rolling hills of Virginia, L’Auberge Chez François brings the Alsatian countryside to America. To Alsatians, great food should be served in an intimate setting along with beautiful scenery. Such is the atmosphere at L’Auberge Chez François. Alsatians are experts at foie gras and duck confit, but the menu is large and filled with traditional and modern dishes, seasonal specialties, light fish and richly sauced steaks, and classics from bouillabaisse to cassoulet to kidneys with mustard. One might try the signature dish, Salmon en Croute or Haeringer’s classic Chateaubriand of Tuna. Desserts are a definite treat at L’Auberge Chez François. It’s hard to choose from among the intense chocolate creations, towering soufflés or their various fruit tarts.

The sylvan backdrop makes a drink or meal under the stars a special occasion and the perfect summer setting for any event. Readers of Washingtonian magazine have voted L’Auberge Chez François as their favorite restaurant 16 years in a row. The restaurant has received numerous awards and accolades and is featured often in magazines such as Bon Appetit, Gourmet and Wine Spectator and regularly holds a top spot in Zagat’s Survey. In April, 2002, The Haeringer family was awarded AAA’s Four Diamond Award for their outstanding service and quality. This is the 10th year L’Auberge Chez François has been recognized by AAA for their excellence.

Corporations such as Merck, Pfizer, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Exxon Mobil and Lexus routinely hold special dinners and events at the restaurant. Others who can be seen at L’Auberge Chez François on any given night include: AOL/Time Warner Chairman Steve Case, Michael Jordan, Larry King, Mick Jagger, Ted Koppel, Barbara Walters, Dan Rather, as well as Heads of State, Supreme Court Justices, Administration officials such as Colin Powell, politicians such as Newt Gingrich, Ted Kennedy, John Warner, Dick Gephardt and Bob Dole, as well as Washingtonians from all walks of life.

L’Auberge Chez François is located at 332 Springvale Road, Great Falls, Virginia. They are open for dinner Tuesdays through Saturday, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., Sunday 1:30 to 8:00 p.m. For more information, call 703-759-3800. Information is also available at www.laubergechezfrancois.com
